Materials FAQ

Should I choose PLA or PETG?

PLA for indoor and decorative objects: it holds fine detail and comes in the most colours. PETG for functional parts that need to be tougher and cope with water and warmth.

Which 3D printing material is best outdoors?

ASA. It is UV-stable and heat-resistant, so it won't yellow or go brittle in the sun the way PLA can.

Which material is flexible?

TPU, a rubber-like material for grips, bumpers, cases, straps and seals.

Are 3D-printed objects food-safe?

We don't recommend direct food contact: fine layer lines can trap residue. Our pet bowl, for example, uses a stainless steel insert for food and water.

Does the material change the price?

Yes, a little. Each material has its own cost and some 3D print more slowly. Switch material in the quote tool and the price updates instantly.
